Host a Free Digital Skills Workshop

Community Research Begins Around a Table

Hosting a workshop is easy and completely free for community organizations. You provide a welcoming space and bring the group together. We take care of everything else, from planning and materials to facilitation.

Each workshop also contributes to the public research at the heart of The Good Life Lab: can the same technologies often blamed for making us more distracted, lonely, and disconnected actually help us become more curious, creative, connected, and engaged with the world and people around us?

Looking for something more specific? We also offer digital literacy workshops tailored to your audience and organization, from practical AI and smartphone fundamentals to deeper exploration of useful tools, overlooked features, and surprising possibilities people may not realize are already in their hands.

A Better Digital Life

Technology shapes more and more of everyday life, but most of us use only a fraction of what the tools in our pockets can actually do. The Good Life Lab helps people build practical digital skills while discovering new possibilities. Through free community workshops, participants learn how to use AI and smartphones with greater confidence and purpose.

Some workshops focus on the essentials. Others go further, mixing in unexpected demonstrations, sensory surprises, and playful challenges that make the experience feel very different from a typical digital skills workshop.

Our Philosophy

What if Technology Gave Something Back

We hear a lot about what technology is taking from us.

Our attention. Our time. Our creativity. Our ability to be present with one another.

Those concerns are real. But they are only part of the story.

The Good Life Lab explores a different question: how can technology, creativity, curiosity, and community work together to make everyday life feel richer rather than more fragmented?

Sometimes that means using AI differently. Sometimes it means discovering possibilities hiding inside the phone already in your pocket. Sometimes it means putting the phone down because it has already done its job and pointed you toward something worth experiencing.

Three Good Life Lab projects explore that idea from different angles, with one shared goal: help technology give more back to people and communities than it takes away.

Digital Literacy

10,000 Hours Saved

Our flagship public research asks what happens when we move beyond the familiar advice to simply spend less time with technology and start asking how we could use it better.

Three Projects, One Shared Goal

After the Digital Detox

Can the technologies blamed for shrinking our lives help make them bigger?

For years, digital wellbeing has largely focused on subtraction. Spend less time online. Delete the app. Turn off the notification. Leave the phone in another room. Sometimes that is excellent advice. But it leaves a fascinating question unanswered.

What if the same technologies associated with distraction and disconnection could also encourage us to make something, learn something, notice something, talk to someone, visit somewhere or become fascinated by a corner of the world we knew nothing about yesterday?

After the Digital Detox is our interactive public research project exploring what separates technology that merely captures our attention from technology that gives something meaningful back.

We want to understand not simply how much technology people use, but what happens because they used it. Did it leave them scrolling, or did it lead somewhere worthwhile?
